March 2004 - Managing Director, John Carter, has won the Pertexa (Performance Textiles Association) President's Award for services to the industry. John was awarded the trophy by Ian Parkin (President) at the Pertexa Gala Dinner on 3rd March 2004. J & J Carter exhibitted a number of tented structures for the rental market at Pertexa '04 including a 12m Alu-Hall which was provided as a seminar marquee, along with 3m and 4m Peaked Canopies. 2004 was an important show which saw the association name change from MUTA (Made Up Textiles Association) to Performance Textiles Association. We hope like other members that this is one of many improvements to modernise our industry and association. |

This canopy, covering a Grade II listed Aberafan Bridge, occupies a key position in Port Talbot's town centre, linking two shopping centres. It provides cover from the inclement weather, as well as direction and focus to the centre's main pedestrian route. The stark white and bold design of the canopy contrasts sharply with the dark valleys beyond. |
The newly engineered Membrane Structure, designed by HGP Architects and CETEC Consultancy is well under construction. The towering 43m tall structure, located between the M27 and M275 motorways will certainly become a major landmark for the City of Portsmouth. The structure made from a Stainless Steel mast and rigging system encompasses a new membrane material never used until this project. The fabric is a PTFE Coated Open Glass Fibre Mesh, although this material has been previously used with a laminated finish. |
Our recently completed Howdon S.T.W Geo-Membrane project has been awarded two marks of distinction, firstly by The Made Up Textiles Association in the Industy Awards 2000 scheme, and secondly by J.E.C Composites Awards 2000 in Paris for the "best reinforced structure in Europe".
